Imaging Schools Financial Aid Options

Student Financial Aid is available to help the student meet the difference between the amount he/she can afford to pay and the actual cost to attend one of the Schools of Radiation and Imaging Technologies. The amount the student and his/her family can afford to contribute is determined by a need analysis. Need is established by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at the website www.fafsa.ed.gov or by paper FAFSA and mailing it to the federal processor. The FAFSA code for all schools is 004117. A Student Aid Report (SAR) is provided to the student.

No financial aid is disbursed until the student is enrolled in the program of study. The payment period for financial aid is quarterly.

FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMS

  1. Grants
    1. Federal Pell Grant: The Pell grant is only awarded to undergraduate students. It is based on student need. The Pell Grant does not have to be repaid.
  2. Loan Programs
    1. Federal Stafford Loan: There is both a subsidized and an unsubsidized Stafford Loan. A student can obtain a loan regardless of income, but the federal government pays interest only on need-based loans. Eligible lenders include banks, credit unions, or the Georgia Student Finance Commission.
    2. Service Cancelable Stafford Loan: The service cancelable loan is for students preparing for professions for which there is a critical manpower shortage in the state of Georgia. Radiologic technology, radiation therapy, and sonography students are in approved critical fields of study. To qualify, a student must be a Georgia resident. A student may cancel this loan with interest for each academic year by practicing his/her profession full-time within Georgia at an approved site, such as a hospital or clinic. If the student does not work in the state to cancel the loan, it converts to a Federal Stafford Loan and has to be repaid. Loan funds are limited. For additional information visit www.gsfc.org.
    3. Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS): Loans may be applied for by parents on behalf of their dependent, undergraduate students. Eligible lenders include banks, credit unions, or the Georgia Student Finance Commission.
