Why
We Have Volunteers
Volunteers supplement the basic and essential functions of
the professional staff by providing services that add to
the comfort, care and happiness of our patients.
Volunteers also promote understanding
in the community of Grady Health System's services and mission.
Volunteers at Grady Health System are not permitted
to take on any tasks or responsibilities that fall outside the scope
of the volunteer role.
Any tasks or responsibilities that
can only legally be performed by a member of a licenced or regulated
profession (physician, pharmacist, physiotherapist, nurse, laboratory
technician, etc.) are not included in any volunteer job descriptions.
Volunteering will not allow you the opportunity to practice or develop
your clinical or technical skills, nor are our volunteer roles designed
to be professional internship opportunities. Also, for reasons of patient
privacy, Grady Health System does not permit volunteers
to shadow physicians or other health-care professionals.
